Frequently asked questions

How will this help my career?

Many past students have stated that the degree increased their enjoyment and satisfaction at work by increasing their understanding and confidence for both clinical work and teaching. A postgraduate qualification is also often helpful in gaining promotion and applying for jobs. However, it is an academic qualification and without recognized clinical training it is not a means to obtaining specialist recognition. The course is approved for continuing education credits from a number of professional associations.

Do I need to come to attend classes?

No. The course can be completed entirely on-line. A one or two week face to face course is held at the beginning of each year at Royal North Shore Hospital which covers much of the course materials. However attendance is not compulsory.

How much study time is needed?

This varies from person to person. During the semester most people need to devote at least 15-20 hours per week to their studies. Many people need more than this.

Where can I get more information?
